Navistar Celebrates 25 Year Anniversary of Escobedo Assembly Plant

Escobedo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico (April 21, 2023) – Today Navistar celebrates the 25-year anniversary of the Navistar Escobedo Assembly Plant in Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Since opening in April 1998, it has produced nearly 880,000 bus and truck chassis. It is also the place where in which the revolutionary International® eMV™ Series is produced, the only 100% battery electric truck manufactured in Mexico.

“I am proud of the Escobedo Assembly Plant team and the work they accomplish every day to best serve our customers,” said Mathias Carlbaum, President and CEO. “The team here is integral to our ambitions to accelerate the impact of sustainable mobility.”

With an area of more than 110 hectares, the Escobedo Assembly Plant provides direct employment to almost 6,200 people and indirectly to 3,000 more. The facility’s vehicle production is mainly exported to the United States and Canada.

"Throughout more than two decades, this production facility has received investments upward of $582 million US dollars, the most recent announced in last February for the expansion of the cab painting area", says Bernardo Valenzuela, Vice President of Operations and General Manager of Navistar Mexico.

The Escobedo Assembly Plant was the first plant in Mexico to be certified to ISO 45001, the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems. It also has national and international certifications such as ISO 9001 (quality), 14001 (environment), as well as PASST, Safe company and Clean Industry certifications, among many others.
