U.K. MOD Selects Navistar Defense to Compete for Replacement of Tactical Vehicle Fleet
Record of Highly Survivable Products and Manufacturing
Variants of the MXT will be provided for testing

WARRENVILLE, Ill. (October 14, 2008) Navistar Defense, LLC has been selected as one of the nine finalists to compete to replace a significant portion of the U.K.’s “light” tactical wheeled vehicle fleet in the highly-competitive Operational Utility Vehicle Systems (OUVS) program. Navistar will provide vehicles for testing and trials in 2009 to replace a portion of the army’s fleet, which includes Land Rover, Wolf, Reynolds Boughton RB-44 and Pinzgauer vehicles. The company was selected to compete in both the OUVS Large and OUVS Small categories and intends to provide variants of its International® MXT™ for testing in both divisions. Original estimates of the replacement vehicles were approximately 16,000 units, while current estimates place the opportunity at greater then 4,000 units.

The U.K. Ministry of Defence launched the OUVS program in 2003, which is segregated into “Large” and “Small” categories. The OUVS Large category is anticipated to have a payload of three to five tons, while the OUVS Small is anticipated to have a payload of one to two tons. It is expected that the Ministry of Defence will award a contract in 2011.

“Navistar’s selection for the next phase of the OUVS competition is a real honor,” said Robert Puhalovich, sales director, Navistar Defense. “OUVS is a highly-competitive program and we are confident our products will continue to demonstrate our ability to produce highly survivable vehicles with rapid customization capabilities. The OUVS program is a prime example of how Navistar’s expansive portfolio of adaptable vehicles and worldwide support appeals to militaries around the world.”

In addition to OUVS, Navistar is also prepared to respond to any and all urgent requirements from the U.K. Ministry of Defence and other NATO countries where interest in the survivability characteristics of the International® MaxxPro™ and MXT™ lines has been expressed.
