Lisle, Ill., May 16, 2012 – Navistar Chairman, President and CEO Dan Ustian applauded the entry into force of the free trade agreement between the U.S. and Colombia. Ustian noted that the free trade agreement will benefit the U.S. manufacturing sector.

“Combined with the elimination of tariffs on select truck categories, I am confident that the trade facilitation and customs administration provisions in the U.S.-Colombian agreement will boost the export of U.S. manufactured goods to Colombia,” Ustian said.

Ustian also announced an immediate demonstration of the accord’s benefit: Navistar’s first tariff-free trucks will leave the assembly plant in Garland, Texas this week, bound for Colombia.

“Navistar is delighted to be the first U.S. commercial vehicle manufacturer to export our American-made trucks to Colombia, tariff free,” Ustian said. “Navistar's International® PayStar® tractors will be employed by sugar growers to move cane from plantations to mills, strengthening the Colombian agribusiness sector in the process.”
